Nokia OK Software Designation Goes Global

IRVING, TEXAS -- Nokia (NYSE: NOK) today announced the global expansion of the Nokia OK software testing and evaluation service. Two additions to the Nokia OK family of testing facilities give a global presence to the service offered through Forum Nokia and Nokia Tradepoint. National Software Testing Lab (NSTL) and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young have joined VTT of Finland in providing professional software testing and evaluation of Symbian OS and J2ME applications.

The Nokia OK designation is awarded to third party products and applications that have successfully been tested with a specific Nokia product. The Nokia OK concept makes it easier for customers to identify third party applications and products that can be used with confidence in that they meet the testing criteria set by Nokia. Subject to signing the Nokia OK License Agreement, the third party company can use the Nokia OK logo when marketing the product or application that has received the Nokia OK designation.

For a limited time, the first 150 J2METM applications (MIDlets) will be tested and evaluated for only $400 each. The Nokia OK logo signifies that not only can these applications be used with confidence, but the application will also be assured of premium placement and visibility in the Nokia Tradepoint service.

Nokia Tradepoint is a business-to-business e-marketplace connecting global service providers with suppliers of mobile applications. Nokia Tradepoint features an on-line environment coupled with a solution matching service containing a wide spectrum of mobile applications, ranging from enterprise to entertainment, and from finance to music and games. The Tradepoint JavaTM Broker Service from Nokia will enable J2ME application developers to easily reach their operator customers by providing access to Nokia channels, segmented and available to connect participants on a global scope.

"The Nokia OK program is a marketing tool for third party companies developing and marketing products and applications that add value to Nokia products," said Lee Wright, who heads global developer marketing for Nokia. "In addition, the Nokia OK designation offers the buyer a level of confidence in the quality of content they are providing their customers. By utilizing the Nokia OK process, you'll see more applications with higher visibility in the marketplace, and better opportunities for quality matches between hardware/software and buyer/seller than ever before."

"As the world's first independent software testing service, NSTL is able to draw on its vast experience to help companies like Nokia meet their testing goals," said Lloyd Holder, CEO of NSTL. "That experience has shown that programs like Nokia OK can add tremendous value to both the program sponsor and participating developers. NSTL is pleased to be part of this Nokia effort, as this program will open the doors for J2ME applications to obtain a statement of quality. The end result will be easier deployment of J2ME applications."

"We are pleased to be working with Nokia to help launch the Nokia OK program in both the Asia Pacific and Americas markets," said Brian Stones, Vice President and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Nokia Global Account Leader. "Our global presence, combined with our mobile solutions and testing experience will provide third party software developers with confirmation that their applications successfully meet Nokia's certification criteria."

Applications are subject to review and acceptance by Nokia.
