BAE SYSTEMS Avionics Group Extends Deployment of Telelogic DOORS Suite to 2006

Product's Performance and Backup Support Underpins Easy and Effective Requirements Management Strategy

MALMO, Sweden and BIRMINGHAM, U.K., April 17 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telelogic, the leading global provider of solutions for advanced systems and software development, today announced that BAE SYSTEMS Avionics Ltd., Europe's largest avionics company, has extended until 2006, its selection of Telelogic's DOORS (r) Requirements Management and DocExpress programs across all sectors and disciplines of the business.

This innovative corporate licensing deal enables Avionics to roll out comprehensive functionality to the desktops of its 5000 engineers.

"Requirements management is key to our business," said Melvin Simpson, Engineering Director for BAE SYSTEMS Avionics. "The ability to work closely with our Customers to develop and capture a mutual understanding of the operational need, will greatly improve our ability to deliver world class products on schedule."

"Telelogic's DOORS is the ideal solution for us," said Jayne Bryant, Engineering Process Manager for BAE SYSTEMS Avionics. "The software delivers capability without complexity and the corporate licensing deal provides 'packaged capability' which simplifies the introduction of new team members. In short, the contract allows us to get on with the job and concentrate on the technical issues."

BAE SYSTEMS Avionics has already applied the DOORS technology successfully to a number of key projects associated with equipment used in world-leading airframes, including Eurofighter Typhoon and JSF. The use of DOORS has now been tightly integrated with the BAE SYSTEMS Requirements Management process, with considerable support from Telelogic's professional services team. The tool will be further integrated into Avionics engineering Integrated Business System during the next 18 months.

"User and vendor both benefit significantly from this close partnership. Telelogic has tailored its software to support our own Best Practice processes and provided process training. We in turn now promote it as our preferred tool, on all-new projects and bids. The strategy is to make it the standard tool for Requirements Management, first in engineering departments and ultimately in all other disciplines, such as commercial and procurement. We also recommend it to suppliers and customers," said Bryant.

Telelogic DOORS is an enterprise-wide requirements management system that captures, links, traces, supports analysis and manages information in order to ensure a project's compliance with specified requirements and standards. BAE SYSTEMS Avionics first nominated DOORS as its preferred solution for Requirements Management activities in December 2000. Although competing products were considered, DOORS delivered best 'Bang per Buck', according to Bryant. Moreover, the company was impressed by Telelogic's 'switched on' attitude and flexible approach to licensing.

Announcing the news, Paul Hewitt, Director of Military, Aerospace & Government Division with Telelogic U.K., welcomed the new agreement. "By extending the period of the existing corporate licensing agreement from December 2003 to October 2006, this new contract represents a significant enhancement to the successful relationship between Telelogic and BAE SYSTEMS Avionics Ltd. We look forward to sustaining this partnership for many years with a total commitment to supplying high quality software, professional services and training."
