LINKOPING, Sweden, June 7, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nexus and Sonera SmartTrust have signed a letter of intent concerning the outsourcing of the development of Digital ID, as well as the management of customers, sales, and support for fixed PKI products. The agreement is expected to increase Nexus' sales by over SEK 120 million during the next three years.
Technology Nexus AB and Sonera SmartTrust AB have signed a letter of intent concerning the administration and development of SmartTrust's PKI products.
The agreement also entails Nexus taking over operations and responsibility for sales and support of existing and new customers with regard to SmartTrust's products within the field of fixed PKI, primarily the products Certificate Manager, Security Center, and SmartTrust Personal.
Concerned personnel within SmartTrust's Digital ID division are being offered employment at Nexus in conjunction with the agreement. In the future, SmartTrust will focus its PKI operations on mobile operators and OEM suppliers. Nexus will mainly work with business organisations, banks and finance companies, and state and local authorities. As a result of the agreement, the parties will work together with product and business development that furthers the development of PKI in both fixed and mobile networks.
The parties will immediately begin preparations for implementation and the final agreement is expected to be ready at the end of June/beginning of July 2002.
In this way, Nexus will strengthen its leading position as a supplier of secured PKI-based solutions in the European market.
