Autoliv Elects New Board Member


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 13, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Board of Directors of Autoliv Inc. (NYSE:ALV) (SSE:ALIV) has decided to increase the number of members to ten and has elected Mr. Dionisio Garza Medina new Board Member as of June 15 until the 2004 Annual Shareholder Meeting.

Mr. Garza is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ALFA, a leading, diversified Mexican company with a division for engine blocks, cylinder heads and other high-tech aluminum automotive components. Mr. Garza sits on the boards of several prominent Mexican companies. He holds a Master Degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, where he recieved the F. Terman Award granted to the top 5% students at the school of engineering. He also holds an MBA from the Harvard University Graduates School of Business.

Mr. Dionisio Garza Medina is a member of the Advisory Committee of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the Harvard University Advisory Committee to the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of the Harvard Business School. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Universidad de Monterrey.

He resides in Monterrey, Mexico, where he was born in 1954.

The other nine Board Members are from Sweden (4), the United States (3), Japan (1) and Germany (1).
