Official Opening of Breast Disease Center with Sectra System

LINKOPING, Sweden, June 14, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Today at 11:00 CET, the new Breast Disease Center at Helsingborg Hospital is officially opened. The center is the first in the world to use Sectra mammography PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) for reviewing their digital mammography images, and is now in full film free operation.

Carin Wredstrom, Chairman of the municipal executive committee, will conduct the opening ceremony of the Breast Disease Center.

"With the new Center we will be able to give better service to women with suspected breast cancer, and Sectra's PACS is one of the corner stones for making this possible," said Dr Stefan Sallerfors, CEO of Helsingborg Hospital. "With Sectra's system we can reduce the time to documented diagnosis. This is of course of great benefit to the patient, since faster diagnosis means less time for the patient to wait for the result and possible treatment.

In February 2002, Sectra was entrusted with the first order for the company's digital mammography system by Helsingborg Hospital. Today the mammography department of Helsingborg Hospital is in full digital production using Sectra's systems for handling X-ray images; PACS, and for handling administrative patient information; RIS. Both systems are adapted to suit population based mammography screening. Final delivery of Sectra MicroDose MammographyTM is expected to take place during the fall, and with this, the women of Helsingborg will receive the world's lowest levels of radiation in conjunction with mammography examinations.
