TietoEnator Provides University Health Care Sector with Customer Invoicing System

ESPOO, Finland, June 18, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- TietoEnator and Medici Data Oy have signed a cooperation agreement regarding the application of the TietoEnator-developed customer invoicing system for hospitals to university health care, and the integration of the system with the MD-OBERON patient administration system. The first hospital will begin the pilot phase during the first half of 2003.

MD-OBERON is an enterprise resource planning system for health care, developed in cooperation between the Finnish university health care sector and Medici Data. The first implementations have already taken place. In connection with implementing the new system, department and support unit systems such as customer invoicing will be renewed and standardized. The plan is to introduce MD-OBERON and TietoEnator's Fixsu customer invoicing system in all Finnish university hospitals.

"MD-OBERON forms the core of the patient data system, through which the process of caring for the patient is managed. Medici Data's strategy is to complement this core through seamlessly integrating it with departmental systems from different suppliers, as well as with support unit systems. This recent agreement with TietoEnator is a concrete implementation of this strategy," states the Managing Director of Medici Data, Seppo Ahokas.

TietoEnator's Fixsu customer invoicing system represents a new generation of software, including electronic invoices and a call center connection. It contains invoicing services and accounts ledgers for outpatient departments, inpatient departments, etc, as well as connections to the financial administration. Foreign invoicing -- in other words, multilingual invoicing -- is also possible. The system is already being used in the Etela-Savo hospital district in Mikkeli, as well as in the Central Army Hospital Tilkka.

TietoEnator is a leading supplier of information technology solutions for the health care sector, and has approximately 300 employees in the field in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. 120 of these work in Finland. The product offering includes a comprehensive, joint solution that supports specialized health care, basic health care, domestic care and oral health care, as well as the development of service systems within welfare. The package covers patient care in all areas, including invoicing and statistics, electronic patient case histories, laboratory information systems and radiology systems, as well as the processing and archiving of pictures.
