When: Thursday, July 25, 2002 Dance lessons at 6:30 p.m. Concert at 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Where: Festival Pier at Penn's Landing Columbus Boulevard and Spring Garden Street Philadelphia, Pa. What: Swingin' jazz music fills the warm evening air as professional dance instructors teach couples how to jump, jive and wail. Young and old alike will dance the night away under the waterfront stars. The Carmen Dee Orchestra will continue the swing of the WPEN Big Band Series this summer season.
Background: The free WPEN Big Band Series features the best big bands in Philadelphia, every Thursday night throughout the summer season. Penn's Landing has been producing this popular swing series for over 20 years. The program is made possible by the Recording Industries Music performance Trust Fund, which is funded by the recording industry. WPEN Big Band Series is arranged by Local 77 of the Federation of Musicians and presented by Independence Blue Cross.
