Northrop Grumman Team Selected by La Poste to Install International Mail Processing Center Near Paris Airport

BALTIMORE, July 29, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) subsidiary Solystic S.A. and partner Crisplant, Inc., of Frederick, Md., have been awarded a contract by La Poste Courrier International to implement an integrated international mail processing center that will be located adjacent to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Roissy, France.

The "Roissy Hub" will replace two existing facilities with a single highly automated center that combines sorting and handling of letters, flats (magazines, catalogues, circulars) and parcels. It will also include an integrated information system and advanced security equipment. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Solystic, a French-based business unit of Northrop Grumman's Automation and Information Systems Division, formed a consortium with Crisplant to pursue, capture and execute the program. As prime contractor, Solystic will have responsibility for program management, systems engineering, automation equipment fabrication and development of the information system. Crisplant will supply the material handling, parcel sorting and security equipment.

According to Paul Freedman, director of International Business and Technology Integration for Solystic, "The Roissy Hub program provides Northrop Grumman with an inroad into the international turnkey sortation and distribution center market. This award reflects the strength of synergy between the Automation and Information Systems Division and Solystic."
