Market Successes for Sandvik Within Materials Handling


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 16, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The leading technology and service company Sandvik Materials Handling within the Sandvik Mining and Construction business area has achieved major market successes recently. Several large and significant orders have been received for advanced systems for materials handling. The total order value is about SEK 400 M.

The orders are for customized plants with very high capacity for the handling of coal and iron ore in the Asian markets, including ports in Australia and India, mines in China and a power plant in Taiwan. An order has also been received for a biofuel-fired power plant in Germany during the same period.

"These orders demonstrate Sandvik Materials Handling's strong position in materials handling systems, offering advanced technology, a well- established service organization and solid references. In Australia and Southeast Asia we meet customers' high demands for systems to handle coal and iron ore.
