Micronic Appoints Industry Veteran Manny Ferreira President of North American Subsidiary


TABY, Sweden, Aug. 29, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Micronic Laser Systems AB (Stockholm:MICR), a leading manufacturer of laser pattern generation equipment to semiconductor and display industries, has named Manny Ferreira president of Micronic Laser Systems, Inc., the company's North American subsidiary based in Mountain View, Calif. In his new role, Mr. Ferreira is charged with leading Micronic's North American operations, customer support and sales efforts to increase the company's financial growth and strengthen customer relationships. He brings organizational and team-building skills refined through more than 20 years of experience in the industry.

"Through two decades of industry leadership experience, Manny has consistently proven his commitments to strengthening customer support, cultivating relationships and building infrastructure," Mr. Sundstrom, SrVP, Customer Operation said. Mr. Ferreira joins Micronic from Portal Bay, where he served as vice president of operations, acting CFO, director and co-founder of the start-up venture from its inception in 1999.

Before joining Portal Bay, Mr. Ferreira spent two years as director of operations for Ultratech Stepper's UltraBeam Lithography business division. Prior to that, he held a variety of corporate management positions in operations, manufacturing and engineering with several lithography companies including Photronics, Microlink Technologies and Ultratech Stepper.

Mr. Ferreira holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Santa Clara University. He is active in several professional organizations, including IEEE, SPIE and BACUS, and has published and presented numerous technical articles in the microlithography field.
