Larger laboratories often use a slide maker and stainer, which is connected to the cell counter. For small and medium sized laboratories it may be difficult to motivate the cost for these systems, consequently they prepare the smears manually. The manual elements involve the risk of fluctuating smear quality. HemaPrep is a cost effective alternative for laboratories of this size.
HemaPrep has been available on the American market for over 15 years and is used by satisfied customers every day. It has not been marketed in Europe previously.
The agreement also allows CellaVision to sell HemaPrep in the rest of the world, but not exclusively.
