Micronic Receives Order for an Omega6600 Laser Pattern Generator Including an Option for a Sigma7000

TABY, Sweden, Sept. 27, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Micronic Laser Systems AB (Stockholm:MICR), a company at the forefront in semiconductor and display laser pattern generators for the production of photomasks to the worldwide electronics industry, today announced the order of an Omega6600 laser pattern generator to a customer in Asia. The order includes an option for a Sigma7000 series laser pattern generator. Shipment of the Omega6600 is scheduled for the fourth quarter 2002.

"This order demonstrates that Omega6600 is accepted by the industry as a high productivity tool for manufacturing of advanced photomasks and that Micronic is maintaining its strong position despite the weak market condition," said Sven Lofquist, Micronic Laser Systems' president and CEO. "We are also very pleased to see that the demonstrated performance of Micronic's Sigma technology means that our customers now plan to use our DUV laser technology for state-of-the-art photomask production."

Omega6600 is the high-end tool in a product family built on a flexible platform for the production of photomasks down to the 130 nm node. The Sigma7000 product line expands on the Omega6000 with a new spatial light modulator (SLM) writing principle optimized for future state-of-the-art resolution at high print speed. The performance is applicable to the 130- 70 nm design nodes of semiconductor components.
