Bright Star Acquires Claims With a Target Similar to the DP Zone

VANCOUVER, B.C., Oct. 15, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Management of Bright Star Ventures Ltd. (TSX Venture Exchange:BSV) and Network Gaming International Corporation (TSX Venture Exchange:NGQ) are pleased to announce that, as part of its 50%-50% joint venture, they have acquired an additional 150 units (the "Buck Claims") covering the South Eastern portion of the Tulameen Ultramafic Complex near Princeton, B.C.

The new properties are contiguous south and east of existing Bright Star properties. These claims cover an important contact zone between the Tulameen Ultramafic Complex and the eastern border of the adjacent Nicola Volcanics Group. Stream sediment sampling in this area has indicated highly anomalous gold and PGM values in the streams draining from the Tanglewood Hill area.

Previous induced polarization programs, bedrock sampling programs, and an airborne EM/Mag survey in this area identified several potentially mineralized systems including a drill indicated iron target located on Tanglewood Hill. The identified iron target is hosted in a geological setting similar to the DP Zone (see Company's News Release of August 6, 2002) discovered in the Western portion of the Complex. Previous sampling of the iron target by BC Mines surveys identified platinum values as high as 800 ppb Platinum per ton. A high priority airborne EM target identified in the vicinity of this iron deposit will be subjected to additional geological geochemical and geophysical surveys.

The BSV-NGQ joint venture has acquired these new claims for staking costs and the issuance of 20,000 shares of Bright Star Ventures Ltd. and has agreed to pay a 2% Net Smelter Return with a buyout for $100,000. This agreement is subject to regulatory approval.

Bright Star Ventures Ltd. in combination with its various joint venture partners has now completed the acquisition of 85% of the Tulameen Ultramafic Complex.

Drilling Program Update:

The Company has completed the first two drill holes on the North Eastern portion of the DP Zone. The first hole was completed to a depth of 627 ft. and the second hole located 150 meters away was completed to a depth of 647 ft. The drill cores are presently been logged, and samples will be shipped to Ecotech Laboratories Ltd. in Kamloops, B.C. for assay. Results will be reported as soon as they are available.
