`Heirs of a Lost Race': A Love Unlike Any Other

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct. 25, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- "I am the Light. I am pure energy. I am the past, the present, and the future. I am what is. Along my eternal journey, I had the privilege of meeting children who understood the Light: The following saga is their remarkable story. They shall inspire many others."

With these words, "Heirs of a Lost Race," the epic debut novel by Francis F. Pitard, begins. Now available from 1stBooks Library, "Heirs of a Lost Race" is the breathtaking love story of two remarkable people, Kon Tici and Hina of the Valley.

Kon Tici is a courageous young man with unshakable ethic of peace. His unbelievable journey is heightened when he comes face to face with Hina of the Valley, a woman the like of which he has never seen.

Hina of the Valley is a priestess unlike any other. Noble of heart, respectful of nature, self-reliant, and passionate about her people, Hina finds herself unexpectedly and inexplicably drawn to Kon Tici.

Set in Polynesia, author Francis Pitard uses his extensive knowledge of Polynesian Culture to create a realistic backdrop for "Heirs of a Lost Race."

Pitard spends his days as a consulting expert, but his passion lies in archeology and anthropology, specifically in reference to Polynesia. Prior to his American citizenship, Pitard spent two years in Tahiti and six in New Caledonia. He and his wife, Deloris, often spend days hiking the rocky hills of Easter Island and working on "Rapa-Nui Settlers, by Choice and Necessity," the sequel to "Heirs of a Lost Race." The Pitards currently reside in Denver, Colorado.

Of "Heirs of a Lost Race," Pitard says, "(It) is the love story of Kon Tici and Hina of the Valley that should inspire, give a model of ethics, and provide hope and optimism. They are from different worlds, races, cultures and beliefs, leading to a breathtaking encounter. Within the microcosm of the South Pacific, forgotten values with universal reach are explored. Around the characters there is a constant powerful, spiritual and cosmic presence. The characters feel that presence, which adds a mysterious touch to their story and behavior."
