BLAYDON, U.K., Nov. 14, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Zytronic Plc (LSE:ZYT), the specialist manufacturer of touch screens and optical filters for electronic displays, announces an agreement with 3M Touch Systems, Inc. for distribution of the "ZYTOUCH" touch screen on a worldwide basis. 3M will brand the product under its own label and use its extensive sales channels in the touch screen arena to promote this product.
The agreement is important for both Zytronic and 3M in that it expands 3M's broad offering of touch screen technologies whilst providing Zytronic access to an extensive worldwide sales team and distribution channel. The benefits to Zytronic are not expected to be immediate, and may take up to two years before tangible results become evident from this relationship.
Zytronic plans to maintain its existing direct marketing channels to OEM's, such as those announced over the past 12 months in the banking and telephony sectors.
Zytronic's "ZYTOUCH" touch screens are based on the patented projected capacitive touch technology which enables the device to sense a gloved or ungloved touch through a protective glass material.
ZYTOUCH incorporates a range of optical features which offer remarkable clarity and light transmission. Moreover, while satisfying all the standard touch screen market requirements in terms of speed of response, accuracy and reliability, the product offers superior rugged performance features making it ideally suited for public access and outdoor applications, including banking and ticket dispensing.
