WHAT: Variety Club's NEW Tree of Love is unveiled at the Blue Cross RiverRink in a special ceremony with Variety Club's Frances (Frankie) Lockwood, age 7, and Sixers' Center, Todd MacCulloch throwing the switch on this heart warming display.
The Tree of Love is the new holiday appeal being launched this year by Variety Club to raise funds and help the needs of the disabled children in the Delaware Valley. The lights will sparkle brightly with colors reflecting the love of thousands of people who wish to help Variety Club kids throughout the holiday season. Each light will be lit on the Tree of Love in the contributor's honor based on various contribution levels -- from gold to green, red, blue and white (see donor levels below).
The Holiday Tree at the Blue Cross RiverRink, a large evergreen donated by the Fairmount Park Commission has been adopted by the Variety Club, and will now be renamed, the Tree of Love. The donor levels are:
-- $500+ (gold light) -- $499 - $101 (green light) -- $100 - $75 (red light) -- $74 - $50 (blue light) -- $49 - $25 (white light)
A Variety Club heart ornament with the contributor's name will be placed on a miniature Tree of Love next to the original.
BACKGROUND: The Tree of Love fundraising campaign is being supported by Penn's Landing Corporation, the Blue Cross RiverRink, PECO Energy, IBEW Local 98, and members of the public.
