Sectra Announces Cooperation with European Health IT Supplier Torex

LINKOPING, Sweden, Dec. 13, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Swedish IT- and medical technology company Sectra (Other OTC:SSBBF) (Stockholm:SECTb) signed a partnership agreement with U.K.-based Torex Health, one of Europe's leading suppliers of health IT. Torex Health currently has the largest installed base of hospital information system clients in the U.K. and the Torex strategy is increasingly focused on clinical systems.

Through this partnership, Sectra's system for handling and archiving digital radiology images (PACS) will be fully integrated with Torex's system for clinical patient information in Torex Hospital and Radiology Information systems. The images will be fully integrated into the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) that is being delivered to Torex British hospital customers. Integration of the Sectra PACS solution and Torex software with the EPR will widen access to key clinical diagnostics. Under the partnership, Torex will sell and install Sectra systems as a strategic core component for image management in its own overall IT solutions in the United Kingdom and Irish markets.

"With this kind of partnerships we enable integrated digital image management in large scale IT solutions for health care. Total hospital integration like this is in high demand in the market," said Dr. Torbjorn Kronander, President of Sectra Imtec AB. "By working with Torex, a very competent HIS partner, we can complement our existing partnerships in radiology with a new important segment -- hospital IT providers. Resulting in top of the line integrated health care infrastructure for the U.K. health care market."

"Sectra's digital radiology system complements our own market leading product set," said Steve Garrington, Managing Director of Torex European Health Division. "Sectra has garnered numerous top rankings for their PACS solution in customer surveys and expert market evaluations. This partnership enables us to offer our present and future customers in the U.K. and Ireland one of the best PACS solutions available."
