LINKOPING, Sweden, Jan. 15, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Swedish IT and medical technology company Sectra (Other OTC:SSBBF) (Stockholm:SECTb) has signed a contract with Trelleborg Hospital in Sweden, regarding digitization of the hospital's radiology operations. The order includes Sectra's system for image viewing, communication and archiving (PACS) and it's value amounts to approximately USD 870,000.
The radiology department of Trelleborg Hospital performs approximately 35,000 radiology exams annually, and is currently using Sectra's radiology information system (RIS). The complete radiology operation is now to be digitized, and Sectra has been chosen to deliver also the image handling system (PACS). Installations will begin in spring and the radiology department is scheduled to be in full digital operations in the fall of 2003.
"Sectra has a long experience of developing PACS, and understands the radiology way of thinking," said Dr Ulf Nyman, operations manager at the radiology department of Trelleborg Hospital. "We chose Sectra's system because it is very user-friendly. Another reason is the highly qualified integration between RIS and PACS that Sectra offers," he continued.
With Sectra's system, the radiology department of Trelleborg Hospital will be able to work completely without paper and films. By handling requests, patient data and x-ray images digitally, a more efficient workflow is created. This contributes to better patient care through faster throughput of images and answers to requesting physicians. With the very high security level built into the system, this can be done without compromising patient integrity and security.
