Vodafone Extends Special MMS Campaign Price

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Vodafone Sweden will be offering its customers to send picture messages with sound and text (MMS) between mobile phones for only SEK 1.50 per message. The campaign price will apply until April30, this year.

MMS adds a whole new dimension to regular mobile communication and allows mobile users to share their experiences via their mobile phones using pictures, sound and text, whatever the occasion or their mood might be.

"Since launching MMS in October last year, we have noted a considerable customer interest in mobile communications with pictures. This is reflected not least in the sales of our live-phones Panasonic GD87 and Nokia 7650," saif Goran Mannerstrale, Commercial Director of Business Area Consumer, Vodafone Sweden.

"It is not until quite recently that all actors on the Swedish telecom market have been able to offer their customers MMS-services, which means we only now have the conditions needed to work out fully functional technical solutions for sending MMS between operators. We hope to solve this during the spring. Until all these bits are in place, we choose to continue to offer our MMS at a campaign price," said Goran Mannerstrale.

It costs nothing to receive an MMS. For recipients whose mobile phones are not MMS-enabled, an automatic SMS appears with the URL to a Website where they can view their picture messages. This applies whatever operator they use.

The campaign price of SEK 1.50 per MMS applies until April 30 this year. The service is available to all Vodafone Sweden subscribers, as well as to customers with prepaid cards. Mobile users with Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones that are MMS-enabled need only send an SMS with the text 'MMS' to 9989, and the appropriate MMS settings will automatically be sent to their phones.
