Teleca: Obigo New Brand for World Leading Mobile Application Software

MALMO, Sweden, Feb. 13, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Teleca (Stockholm:TELCb) launches Obigo(TM) (formerly known as AU Mobile Suite) the new brand for its world leading application software for mobile devices. Obigo is expected to be licensed by mobile phone manufacturers who represent more than 60 per cent of the global phone market during 2003.

Obigo will be presented at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, Monday the 17th of February, and a new Website, www.obigo.com, will be launched on the same day. The product brand, Obigo, will make Teleca's software products more visible and recognisable.

"Obigo is the start of a new strong brand identity through which we will communicate the unique benefits to the market," said Joakim Nydemark, President of Teleca Mobile Technologies. "An increasing number of the world's mobile device manufacturers are becoming aware of Obigos advantages and we are gaining market share every day in this very interesting market."

Obigo is a portfolio of software products that is the application layer needed to build a complete mobile phone including Internet browsing, messaging and content management. Obigo makes integration into cellular chipsets faster and integration of applications easier. This cuts time-to-market, allowing mobile device manufacturers to introduce new models faster and reduce costs.

Obigo is pre-integrated on most leading cellular chipsets shortening time-to-market even further and helping to control development costs. This makes development of fully multimedia-enabled mobile phones faster and easier than ever.

"Teleca's Mobile Device service organisation in Europe, USA and Asia provides local integration and support for all customers, wherever they are located in the world," said Christer Bjork, President of Teleca Software Solutions. "Teleca has unique experience in integration of software in mobile devices. We work with major OS and application layer platforms helping our customers develop superior products. Obigo is a state-of-the-art product and very appreciated by our customers."

Obigo already has more than 50 licensees around the world, including customers like Palm, Samsung, Siemens VDO and SonyEricsson. Teleca forecasts that 120 million devices will include Obigo in 2003, which represents 35% of the total handset market with browser capability (350 million handsets 2003: Frost&Sullivan). Obigo works with all network bearer systems including GSM, CDMA and 3G.
