TORONTO, March 10, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Witnet International, Inc. (OTCBB:WTNTE) (OTCBB:WTNT) announced today that it has completed development of its new wireless VoIP phone software and system. The Company plans to commercialize the technology starting in April.
VoIP or "Voice over Internet Protocol" is the technology that promises to take voice phone traffic over the internet and most likely overcome PBX and other traditional telephony standards and practices.
Witnets latest products take VoIP to the next step. "ModaPhone" is a wireless VoIP solution which allows phone calls from wireless PDA's (Personal Digital Assistant) over the internet. The Company plans to offer ModaPhone for Windows CE, Linux, and other operating systems.
ModaPhone supports real time multimedia interaction between users during a call session. The multi media features or "modes" include real-time whiteboard drawing, still image sharing, and video; making a PDA capable of being a wireless video-phone.
The VoIP call session from the PDA can be made to another computer with the ModaPhone software or even to another telephone or cell phone. Additionally, the same capability is made for any home or office computer with the software installed.
The multi media wireless "phone" works over wireless internet systems such as the GPRS (TDMA) and CDMA IX networks as well as 802.11 and Wi-Fi.
Mr. Mun Su Han, President of Witnet is currently demonstrating the technology to various telecommunications companies, re-sellers, systems integrators, equipment manufacturers and potential strategic alliances throughout North America. "I am extremely pleased to enhance our product line through the introduction of ModaPhone to the market place and believe that these products will have broad market appeal," said Mr. Han.
The second product offering is similar to ModaPhone however, is designed for secure communications for the government and military market place using similar network infrastructure and devices as ModaPhone. This technology is reserved exclusively for government clients and has tentatively been dubbed "SecureVoice."
Witnet's specialization in the area of user interface software and design of specialized internet related applications make them well suited to work in this area.
The Company continues to market its main products in the wireless internet space for PDA's such as "Mobilick" however this latest development could help Witnet move into broader market territory as VoIP is already regarded by many industry experts as the framework for the future of telecommunications.
Mr. Han added that he was currently working to ensure that the Company is renewed to its prior status by making the proper adjusted filings to remove the "E" from the companies trading symbol and that it will be resolved in the near term.

Globally, wired/wireless communication service providers are now confronted with various problems such as losing their competency in price caused by the emergence of competitive major/minor service providers, increasing expenses in operating voice and data networks separately, and limitations in offering innovative, value-added services in a reasonably short period of time due to the lack of Internet-related profit-generation model.
To handle these problems and meet future requirements in the communication world altogether, there arises a need for new network architecture.

In the NGN architecture, soft-switches which lie in the core network of NGN interact with various kinds of gateways, servers and customer premises equipments through standardized communication protocols like H.248, MGCP (Media Gateway Control Protocol), H.323, SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), SIGTRAN (SIGnaling TRANsport).
Witnet and its partners have developed an SIP Client Toolkit (including light-weight SIP stack) for PDAs and IP Phones as well as SIP Server Toolkit (highly scalable multi-threaded SIP stack) for high-end Media Gateways, Softswitches, Application Servers. Both SIP stacks included in these toolkits conform to up-to-date IETF standard RFC 3261 which specifies baseline functions of SIP.
Based on these toolkits, the Company will offer IP-based Office Communication Solution which helps enterprise users reduce communication costs and deploy various value-added services rapidly. This solution includes Soft Video Phone for PC/PDA used to support voice/video/data communication with colleagues in the enterprise or with others outside, and Office Comm. Server used to support registration of user's location, user's personal call control and management of voice/video messages recorded while the recipient can't answer the call.
