STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Possio is launching a new Wireless Services Gateway at Cebit. The Possio PX30 contains comprehensive functionality -- thanks to WLAN, Bluetooth, Ethernet, USB connections, and several card slots. All this is built on a powerful OSGi platform. The PX30 provides many opportunities for wireless combinations, powerful applications, and new functions.
Possio's PX30 fulfills the need to be able to offer wireless connections -- regardless of the types of hardware and connections. The OSGi platform enables endless equipment configurations and adaptations, independent of the environment and system in which the PX30 is integrated.
The product works very well as a standalone unit that leverages wireless communication opportunities. But it primarily works as the foundation for systems in which wireless technologies must be connected and in which demands on applications determine setup requirements.
The home environment constitutes a practical usage example, where the PX30 is connected via an ADSL modem and where the Internet service provider has total control over functionality and provides opportunities for sophisticated error detection and for management of fixed and wireless connections.
Using push technology, the OSGi platform can automatically transmit data or messages to customers in retail stores - regardless of whether they're using cell phones or other handheld devices.
In mobile networks, the PX30 is connected as a GPRS or 3G receiver and can thus be connected to WLAN-supported devices on the network. The usage area for new mobile technologies is being extended to many users, and the PX30 offers verification and monitoring of the connections. The PX30 is designed to meet long-term system needs - thanks to the use of Intel's XScale processor, integrated Bluetooth, WLAN, USB, Ethernet 10/100, 32 MB SDRAM, as well as Java, OSGi, SNMP, and IP address management.
The PX30 will be available during 2Q 2003.
