"The first quarter has been characterized by increased market activities within all product segments. The continued delays in shipments of the existing order backlog have had a negative influence on Micronic. This is reflected primarily by our need to secure financing prior to shipment and invoicing," said Sven Lofquist, president and CEO of Micronic Laser Systems and continues: "Nevertheless, we see that our customers' installed systems are generally working at a very high capacity, within both the display and semiconductor segments, which is a clear sign of impending change.

"On the basis of close cooperation with several important customers, we decided to continue the high tempo of work with our Sigma system. We see very good results, including for the most critical parameters -- resolution and line width precision. This is completely in line with our earlier statements that our SLM technology combines the high resolution of electron beam technology with the productivity and stability of laser technology. The combination of progress with regard to system performance and the long and close cooperation with important customers makes us strong in our conviction that we will reach our order intake goal."
