Claritas Continues To Expand Functionality In Latest Upgrade To Its Acclaimed iMARK Series

SAN DIEGO, May 5, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Claritas Inc., the premier provider of intelligent marketing information and target marketing services, announced today the latest upgrade to its iMARK site analysis software application - iMARK 3.5 - which includes three major new enhancements.

"iMARK 3.5 is a major step forward in providing an even more powerful tool to perform site analysis," commented Claritas Assistant Vice President Stephen Ungar. "iMARK 3.0 introduced a link to MapInfo by adding GIS capabilities, and iMARK 3.1 provided access to the 2002 Claritas demographic update. Now, this latest upgrade not only allows our customers to define and manage trade areas, but also expands custom reporting capabilities, making it easier to retrieve the information they need to answer their business questions," he added.

Ungar said the three new features include:

 -- Trade Area Management
The new Trade Area Management feature allows the user to
manage and generate trade area reports that are defined by
geographic lists. All types of geographies can be saved and
managed in a user-friendly interface. The following types of
    geography can be managed:

    -- Standard geographies
-- One to three radii around a point
    -- Custom polygons

With the Trade Area Management feature the user can:
-- Manage trade area files and folders
-- Define and save a trade area
-- Use saved trade areas in standard or custom reports
-- Import trade area definitions for a single trade area
-- Import trade area definitions for multiple trade areas
    within one file

 -- Automatic Calculated Variables
This new feature automatically calculates percent
penetration, percent composition, and index for many
    standard iMARK variables.

"For example, previous versions of iMARK allowed you to display the demographic variable 'CY Household Income, $25K - $35K' as the count of the number of households within this income range. With iMARK 3.5, you can also display this variable on your custom report as the percent of the base variable 'CY Households,' as well as the percent this geography represents of all of the selected geographies for this variable and the index of this geography against the total of the selected geographies," Ungar explained.

-- Rank and Break Custom Reporting
The Rank and Break feature (sometimes referred to as Sort
and Subtotal) answers questions such as: Which are the top
25% of ZIP Codes in San Diego County based upon 2002 Median
    Income?

Specifically, the Rank and Break feature generates reports that:
-- Rank geographies by any variable in ascending or
           descending order
-- Subtotal those geographies by a number of different
           criteria such as:
           -- Equal number of geographies
-- Equal range of the sort variable
-- Equal accumulation of another variable on the report
