Association for Women in Technology to Hold Women's Technology Leadership Forum

Non-Profit's Quarterly Event Continues to Recognize Local High-Ranking Women Executives in Technology Fields


IRVINE, Calif., June 24, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Continuing the effort to recognize female leaders in Orange County, the Association for Women in Technology, Southern California (AWT), will hold its second Women's Technology Leadership Forum at Emulex headquarters in Costa Mesa, Calif. on June 26, 2003 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. AWT's Leadership Forum, a quarterly event, provides an ongoing platform for leaders throughout Southern California's technology industry to share their experiences.

"AWT strives to encourage open discussion and audience participation with role models in the area by presenting exciting programs that serve as both an educational and networking opportunity," said Cynthia Cotteta, president of AWT. "Our esteemed panel of speakers provide a venue for attendees to ask questions and seek advice regarding issues facing women and various career paths in technology including entrepreneurship."

This quarter's forum, sponsored by Emulex, Ballantyne and Focus Tribe Interactive, will include a unique panel presentation featuring three successful, high-ranking women in the local Orange County information technology field:


 -- Sharon Blankenship, president and CEO of LAN International
 
 -- Ginger Neal, vice president of business development and managing
    director of Internet operations for Freedom Orange County
    Information 

 -- Beverly J. Ham, CEO and chairman of BDS Marketing and board chair
    for Working Wardrobes

The women will share stories of the challenge, choice, change and commitment issues they have faced in their technology careers. Sadie Herrera, vice president of human resources for Emulex, will deliver the opening remarks.

AWT's Women's Technology Leadership Forum is open to the public, welcomes both women and men, and will take place at Emulex corporate headquarters, 3535 Harbor Boulevard, Costa Mesa, Calif. 92626. The cost of the forum is as follows: $10 for AWT members who register online, $15 for AWT members at the door, $20 for guests who register online, and $25 for guests at the door.
