Education Creates a World of Possibilites During Sunoco Welcome America! `Kids' Days' at Penn's Landing


PHILADELPHIA, June 25, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sunoco Welcome America! invites all kids ages 13 & under to create their own world at its annual Kids' Day event, Saturday, July 5th and Sunday, July 6th from 10 am to 5 pm on Penn's Landing Festival Pier, Columbus Boulevard and Spring Garden Street. Children and their families will enjoy a variety of FREE games & activities designed to educate and entertain including a special appearance by Radio Disney cast members at the AM640 Radio Disney Tent where kids can win lots of prizes and enjoy performances from Nate Sallie, XIT 88 and more!

The theme for Kid's Day 2003 is "Education Creates a World of Possibilities" featuring interactive exhibits and booths manned by the Academy of Natural Sciences, Please Touch Museum, Philadelphia Zoo and other cultural and educational institutions from the area.

Kids can dress up in the uniforms of their favorite profession like police officers, firefighters, teachers and doctors, and put their best face forward with face painting provided by the Please Touch Museum.

Other kid-friendly activities include an appearance by children's author, Derrick Grant, who will teach children how to write and publish books, and Grand Hank, a local scientist who will dazzle kids with his experiments and amaze them with his insights about science.

Cartoon and historical characters will stop by to enjoy the fun including "Clifford, the Big Red Dog" and entertainment by strolling puppeteers featuring legends like Ben Franklin and other larger-than-life patriots.

Families will all "scream for ice cream" after a hot day of cool fun during the annual Ice Cream Festival also occurring at Penn's Landing on July 4th, 5th & 6th from Noon to 5 pm featuring all-you-can-eat ice cream for just $5 in support of the Joshua Kahn Foundation for Pediatric Leukemia Research.
