Reflections on Life - New poet expresses thoughts on lessons learned through experience

NORTHPORT, N.Y., September 5, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Poet Glenn Henderson knows that life is more about love and friendship than material goods and titles. Throughout life, his experiences have molded his view on the world. In his new poetry book, Reflections: A Collection of Memories Through Time (now available through 1stBooks), he writes about the relationships and situations that have boosted his quality of life.

Henderson believes life is precious and weaves this sentiment into each of his poetic works. The main ingredient holding this view is strong, loving relationships with friends and family, he notes. "Life is a journey filled with travels and treasures far more important than money and riches," he writes.

His poems include thoughts on romantic encounters, the devastating losses of loved ones and the challenges of life itself. He writes about his family, the struggles of everyday survival and the burning desire to cut through the mundane responsibilities of life to reach happiness.

"Hope," expresses his unique style:

"Hope is an amazing little trinket,/That we carry around in our vest pockets./It's something we carry throughout our lives,/Like a well worn family locket...Hope is what makes us human,/And reminds us of just who we are./It gives us a warm feeling inside,/And that our dreams aren't really afar..."

Henderson's poems run the gamut of human emotion and are a candid and refreshing take on real life situations.
