Document Security Systems Announces that Bristol ID Technologies has Signed a Licensing Agreement for Anti-Counterfeiting Technologies

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 3, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Document Security Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:DCSS) announced today that it has received a licensing agreement for several of its leading edge anti-counterfeiting technologies to be manufactured, marketed and sub-licensed by Bristol ID Technologies.

Privately-held Bristol ID Technologies, established in 1975 and headquartered outside of Rochester, New York, is a leading supplier of high quality plastic card products. Its products include membership cards, gift and debit cards, entry and automation cards, security cards, security and identification badges and a wide variety of other card products.

"We are pleased that Bristol ID Technologies, with its reputation for high-end card products combining state-of-the art technology and the fastest turnaround times in the industry, has chosen our patented anti-counterfeiting products and processes for inclusion in their product offerings," said Patrick White, President and Chief Executive Officer of Document Security Systems, Inc. "Unlike other technologies on the market, our system requires no expensive hardware, software or scanners. The difference in our technology is the fact that it's all in the design, which confuses scanners, digital copiers and today's imaging systems and makes it impossible to copy plastic cards, printed paper, labels and other documents."

Keith Yeates, President of Bristol ID, said that, "The DCSS technology surpasses any other anti-counterfeiting technology we have seen. At Bristol ID our core business is the manufacture and sale of custom printed plastic card products for the identification and security markets. We see a key part of our future in the development of cards with unique security features. Therefore, the combination of the DCSS technology with our card manufacturing expertise is a perfect fit, not only to provide new state-of-the art security features to our existing clients but to expand our markets as well."

Under the terms of the licensing agreement Bristol ID Technologies will now be manufacturing and marketing Document Security Systems, Inc.'s patented Digital Pantograph System(r) for hidden word identification as well as its Block-Out(r) product and process for color copier prevention, the multi-color layer system called Prism(r) and the DCSS Laser Moire(r) anti-photographic, anti-scanning technologies.

Document Security Systems, Inc. is a technology company with patents in printed security features which prevent forgery, duplication, counterfeiting, copying, scanning and re-imaging for any type of printed documents, labels or packaging.
