Certance's New TapeStor DAT 72 Drives Are Now Shipping With Yosemite's TapeWare 7.0, Offering SMEs A Robust, Easy-to-Use Backup and Recovery Solution


FRESNO, Calif., Oct. 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Yosemite Technologies, a leading developer of multi-platform backup and recovery software solutions and Certance, a worldwide leader in cost-effective data protection solutions, announced today that TapeWare 7.0 is shipping with the recently released Certance TapeStor DAT 72 Internal Tape Drive. Certance TapeStor DAT 72 represents the fifth generation of DDS technology manufactured by the company. The Certance/TapeWare product partnership provides small to medium businesses with a comprehensive storage solution for workgroups or remote offices.

Additionally previous generations of Certance DDS/DAT technology and Certance TapeStor Travan bundled solutions have been upgraded to include TapeWare 7.0.

TapeWare Version 7.0 incorporates a robust feature-set, including a new Web Gateway to provide centralized or remote management for cross-platform environments and interleaving, which can handle up to eight data streams per tape device. Other features include unlimited slot library support, device level diagnostics, load balancing and additional driver support. TapeWare 7.0 is amongst the first backup software products to receive Microsoft certification for Windows Server 2003, which allows end users to seamlessly upgrade to the platform without the expense of installing new compatible software.

The DAT 72 offers up to 36GB of native capacity and up to 72GB of compressed capacity using hardware data compression. For increased performance, the DAT 72 provides sustained data transfer rates of up to 12.6GB/hr and up to 25.2GB/hr compressed with a 16Mbps buffer. Yosemite TapeWare enables the solution to work to full capacity by providing a highly efficient backup solution, compatible with a Linux, Windows or Netware platforms on a single server or workstation.
