QLogic Launches SANsurfer(r) Management Suite 3.0

Point-and-Click Wizards Simplify Fibre Channel and iSCSI Device Configuration Free of License Fees to Lower the Cost of SANs

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 27, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Storage Networking World 2003 -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), the company that powers storage area networks (SANs), today announced the launch of SANsurfer Management Suite (SMS) 3.0. Designed to provide one complete solution for a storage network, SMS supports Fibre Channel HBAs, iSCSI HBAs and Fibre Channel switches. Designed to lower the cost of SANs, SMS ships with SANblade(tm) Fibre Channel HBAs, SANblade iSCSI HBAs and SANbox(tm) Fibre Channel switches -- free of license fees. And designed to simplify the SAN, SMS features point-and-click configuration Wizards for easy device management.

One of the nation's premier medical testing laboratories, US Labs uses SANsurfer Management Suite 3.0 to help manage and configure its SAN devices. US Labs provides screening, diagnosis, prognosis and genetic testing services to hospitals, physician offices, surgery centers, biopharmaceutical companies and research institutions nationwide.

"SANsurfer Management Suite 3.0 features an intuitive, easy-to-use graphical user interface," said Sam Arai, network administrator, US Labs. "We are able to use the diagnostic features to obtain performance statistics, and view information about the host, HBAs and switches, target devices, and LUNs. The SAN topology maps provided by SANsurfer Management Suite 3.0 offer useful graphical views at the fabric, switch and port levels."

SANsurfer Management Suite - Easy Management, Free of License Fees, One Complete Solution

SANsurfer Management Suite takes the previously complex work of managing HBAs and switches and makes it "automatic." Point-and-click wizards help you cruise through even the most complex device management tasks. And productivity shifts into high gear because all the controls for every device, task and environment are displayed on one common dashboard.

Easy Device Management - SMS puts the complexity of the SAN into the software instead of in front of the end user. Wizards dramatically simplify complex tasks like installation and zoning. Users answer simple on-screen prompts (NEXT, NEXT, NEXT) to reduce long manual routines into quick point-and-click operations. And intelligent feedback at each step of the process helps avoid accidents.

Free of License Fees - While other device management vendors include a stripped down base model, with additional charges associated with each software option, SMS ships complete at no extra charge with all QLogic HBAs and switches. Users get all the software management applications, APIs, firmware, boot code and documentation needed to easily manage every QLogic device on the SAN, free of license fees.

One Complete Solution - SMS controls every QLogic HBA and switch in a QLogic fabric through a common GUI, providing "one look, one feel," which helps drive increased productivity irrespective of device or management task. Only SMS provides the ability to manage Fibre Channel and iSCSI HBAs, and Fibre Channel switches across Windows, Solaris, Linux and NetWare operating systems-all from one console.

Additionally, SANsurfer Management Suite 3.0 offers the following new product enhancements:

-- HBA "beaconing" - software initiated flashing LEDs to quickly
    identify an HBA's physical location.

-- SANblade Command Line Interface (CLI) -for administrators who
    prefer working in this environment.

-- Echo Diagnostics - enables "touchless" loop back testing of
switches, eliminating the need to disconnect cables (and
disable the network) or use specialized loop-back cables.

-- Non-disruptive Code Load and Activation (NDCLA) - provides
users with a non disruptive method of installing firmware
upgrades by eliminating the need to reboot the system.

-- Platform Support -- SuSE Linux Enterprise 8 (SLES 8)
server, Windows Server 2003 and Netware 6.5.

 -- Security - Support of industry-standard FC-SP and IPSec
    security protocols.

-- FDMI - HBA drivers that are compliant with FDMI, the Fabric
Device Management Initiative, facilitating easy extraction
and viewing of pertinent HBA related information. This
information can then be processed at the switch level or
passed along to other third-party SAN management applications.
