The company stated that these research findings have led to new patent applications, which would complement the existing patent portfolio that the company owns in this field of expertise. The research findings can be applied to create a whole new revolutionary concept for radar antennas. The company presently is working on multiple funded government research efforts, which are being conducted by its team of top plasma physicists.
Progress made within the last six months of research includes the following milestones and discoveries:
- The construction of prototype plasma coaxial cables and wave-guides.
- Demonstration of steer-able gas plasma phased arrays.
- Test results indicating that: interference amongst neighboring gas plasma radar antennas is significantly less than amongst conventional metal radar antennas.
- The construction of high-powered plasma antennas.
The unique properties and demonstrated benefits of a gas plasma radar antenna make it very attractive in military applications such as: Naval Surface Ship and Submarine Radar, Stealth Aircraft Radar and Ballistic Missile Defense Radar Antennas. Ongoing research efforts, which are being conducted by Markland have been funded by all three US Military Services.
