New Version of Nomadix Service Engine Provides Enhanced Functionality for Large Scale Wi-Fi Rollouts

Latest Software Release Delivers Enhanced Wholesale Roaming, Management and Configuration Control Capabilities

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Dec. 03, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nomadix, Inc. (www.nomadix.com), the leading supplier of Public-access solutions, today announced a new version of the Nomadix Service Engine(TM) (NSE) software, which provides enhanced functionality for large-scale Wi-Fi(TM) rollouts. The latest version of the software, available on the Nomadix family of Access Gateways and for license as an embedded software solution, delivers enhanced wholesale roaming, secure management and configuration control capabilities.

"These enhancements are designed to allow our customers to more rapidly deploy Wi-Fi Public-access and augment their current service offerings," said John DiGiovanni, director of marketing for Nomadix. "The new version of NSE demonstrates Nomadix' continuing effort to lead the industry in providing the most robust feature set delivering state-of-the-art billing and roaming support, as well as secure device and configuration management capabilities."

The new version of NSE boasts the following enhancements:

-- Enhanced Wholesale Roaming Support: Nomadix has added Multiple
ISP Tunneling support to the NSE, which allows the creation
of unique L2TP VPN tunnels per provider servicing a particular
HotSpot. This enables all traffic to be sent via an L2TP
tunnel between the HotSpot and the various providers servicing
it. All traffic from the user is seamlessly routed through
these tunnels to their chosen provider based upon their NAI
    properties.

-- Secure Management: The NSE now delivers secure management
capabilities via an IPSec tunnel. All RADIUS-based
authentication, authorization and accounting traffic, as well as
all management traffic, can be passed through an IPSec tunnel for
the secure remote management of a Nomadix Access Gateway.
Nomadix has also added support for SSHv2 to further enhance
the management capabilities of the NSE, and improved the
monitoring capabilities of the NSE by adding local and remote
syslog capabilities to the Access Gateway.

-- Ease of Deployment: This new release of the NSE introduces the
RADIUS-driven Configuration Feature to facilitate the rapid
rollout of HotSpots and simplify configuration management of NSE
devices. RADIUS-driven Configuration allows the NSE to download
configurations from a server specified through RADIUS
authentication messaging and thereby securely automates the
configuration management process in a large network deployment.

-- Billing: Nomadix continues to stay at the forefront of the
Hospitality industry by adding support for Marriott's Wired for
    Business initiative.

Several of the new features mentioned above will be part of NSE's Core functionality, while other Features will be available as part of various module packages. The latest version of the Nomadix Service Engine is scheduled for release by December 31 on the company's family of Access Gateways including the Wireless Gateway (AG-2000), HotSpot Gateway(TM) (HSG) and the Universal Subscriber Gateway II(TM) (USG II) and will also be available as an upgrade package for currently deployed devices.
