WHY: The blood supply in our area is extremely low right now -- so low that the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is striving to collect 800 units of donated blood every day to meet the need. All of the donations will be distributed to 220 hospitals located in Houston and a 24-county surrounding area served by the Blood Center.
