Finnveden is chosen as supplier for Magnesium product to new customer

VARNAMO, Sweden, Dec. 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Finnveden will deliver seat sides produced from magnesium to the seat manufacturer Grupo Antolin. The seats are being produced for a French car maker's new car model.

The deliveries are expected during a five-year period to amount to a value of approximately SEK 200 M. The seat sides will be delivered by Finnveden's Metal Structures business area, with start during the second quarter of 2005.

The seat sides will be die cast in magnesium. Producers are seeking new lightweight materials to reduce vehicle weight. The aim is to decrease weight and as a result reduce fuel consumption.

"Vehicles of the future will be built from lighter weight and new mixed materials to minimize vehicle weight. In addition, the material must have high strength and energy absorbing properties in the event of a collision. This is the type of products in which Finnveden Metal Structures specializes," says Tommy Boork, President and CEO of Finnveden.
