Yosemite Technologies Names John Maxwell Vice President of Marketing

Storage Industry Veteran to Build Upon Yosemite's Technology Foundation and Expand Worldwide Brand Visibility


FRESNO, Calif., Jan. 5, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Yosemite Technologies(tm), a leading developer of multi-platform backup and recovery software solutions, today announced industry veteran, John Maxwell has joined its executive team as Vice President of Marketing. Maxwell will be responsible for all aspects of product management, product marketing, channel marketing and corporate marketing.

Maxwell's initial goals for Yosemite are to build upon the solid core of TapeWare(r), Yosemite's flagship backup and disaster recovery software, develop company messaging and drive brand recognition. Maxwell also intends to expand upon Yosemite's commitment to its OEM and distribution channel partners to ensure they are provided with all the necessary tools for success.

Maxwell brings almost 20 years of storage management experience from both a vendor and data center prospective. Prior to Yosemite, Maxwell helped launch Mendocino Software. Prior to that, Maxwell was Vice President of Marketing for the Network Storage Division at Sun Microsystems (Nasdaq:SUNW). In this position, he was responsible for re-launching and positioning Sun's storage products into the Sun One architecture. Prior to Sun, he was Vice President of Product Marketing at VERITAS Software (Nasdaq:VRTS). In this role, Maxwell led the product management and marketing teams for VERITAS' NetBackup and Backup Exec product lines. He was a key driver in growing VERITAS' backup market share from 7% to over 30%. He also held various product management positions at Legato Systems and Sterling Software in the areas of data backup and storage resource management (SRM). Prior to that, Maxwell spent six years with American Airlines where he managed various teams in the system administration, storage management and database administration areas.
