Convio Named to Forbes List of Fast-Growing Privately Held Technology Companies

Leading Provider of Internet Software and Services for Nonprofits is Among Small Group of Recognized Companies, Including Google

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 12, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Convio - the leading provider of software and services to help nonprofits optimize use of the Internet for managing relationships with constituents - has been named to the 2004 Forbes list of fast-growing private technology companies.

The list, featured in a story titled "The Midas List: Private Properties," appears on Forbes.com and is a supplement to Forbes' list of fast-growing public technology companies (http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2004/0216/104tab2.html). This is the first year that private companies were also included in the coverage. Google, the popular search engine widely reported to be on the brink of going public, is among the handful of companies on the list with Convio.

As reported by Forbes.com, Convio's 2003 revenues were $7 million, double the amount in 2002. Convio forecasts continuing strong growth in the coming year.

"Convio's steady growth - as recognized by one of the world's foremost business news organizations - is a strong indicator that our company has identified and is addressing a huge need within the nonprofit sector for Internet software and services," said Gene Austin, CEO of Convio, Inc. "It's also recognition that we are building a sustainable business with a very bright future serving the large nonprofit marketplace."

Founded in 1999, Convio has helped pioneer use of the Internet by nonprofits for managing constituent relationships to drive fundraising, advocacy, and other forms of mission-critical participation and support. Clients include Dean For America, Easter Seals, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Convio more than doubled its client base in 2003 compared with 2002, and now serves approximately 200 nonprofits. Last year alone, Convio helped clients collectively raise $40 million online - more than a ten-fold increase compared with funds raised the year before.

Nonprofit organizations make up a significant part of the U.S. economy: $1.3 trillion (total of operating expenditures). There are more than one million entities that carry the 501(C) tax-exempt status, with sectors including associations, cultural organizations, education, healthcare, human services, political and advocacy groups, and public broadcasting.
