MEDIA ADVISORY, March 23, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- MEDIA ADVISORY
WHAT: It's a trend that, no matter how many times it goes around, it keeps coming 'round and 'round. You may have thought that the hula hoop was dead, passe, but, in fact a new "turbo" version - the Heavy Hoop, invented by fitness instructor Wendy Iverson -- is very much alive! "Cardio Hoop" classes are the newest hip workout in fitness clubs nationwide and are already a big hit in London! Acknowledged to be the only group exercise routine that provides total body strength training, stretching and cardiovascular benefits at the same time, participants actually move more than two tons of iron during a nonstop class choreographed to custom music. The hoops range in 3-5 lbs in weight. Studies conducted by Conrad Ernest, an exercise physiologist at the Cooper Institute for Human Performance and Nutrition Research in Dallas, confirms the regimen's aerobic potential; an eight-minute spin burns as many calories (about 110!) as much as running an eight-minute mile! So round and round, off go the pounds! WHO: Wendy Iverson and Cardio Hoop has been featured on CNN Headline News, FOX News and ABC News. Cardio Hoop will be featured in Living Fit's March issue, Muscle Mag's March issue, Muscle & Fitness Hers' May issue and Oxygen's May issue, just to name a few. . . Wendy will also be featured on several national television shows and has been invited to appear on QVC next month. WHEN: Wendy will be in New York next Monday March 29th thru Wednesday March 31st launching her Heavy Hoop at special master Cardio Hoop classes being held at Gold's Gym.
