STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Gunnebo Protection AB has received an order from the national road administration in the United Arab Emirates to supply approximately 100 km of its "Safety Line" cable barrier. The order, which is worth over MEUR 1.2, has been signed with Gunnebo's representative office in Dubai.
In recent years, Gunnebo Protection has been developing a family of products designed to improve road safety. The product portfolio consists of the "Safety Line" cable barrier, deer fences, crash barriers, and noise screens. These products have been developed in close cooperation with among others the Swedish Road Administration.
Safety Line has been developed to prevent serious passenger injury and vehicle damage as its cables absorb the kinetic energy of the car in the event of a collision.
Gunnebo Safety Line is currently being installed in the Nordic region as a central barrier on "2+1 roads", or as side or embankment crash barriers. Safety Line has been put through full-scale tests by the National Road and Transport Research Institute in Linkoping and has been approved in accordance with current European standards.
