NEXTEL Cup Driver Ward Burton Teams with NetZero to Auction Items to Benefit Driver's Charity

Auction Featured on eBay Will Benefit The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation


WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., April 19, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- NetZero, a leading value-priced dial-up access provider and official sponsor of 2004 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Ward Burton, today announced that it is sponsoring a charity auction of Ward Burton items on eBay through eBay Giving Works with all proceeds going to The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation, a non-profit organization that strives to promote awareness of the need for wildlife conservation through preservation and education. Burton drives the No. 0 NetZero HiSpeed Chevrolet and many of the items were used in the production of the latest NetZero television spot.

The auctioned items were used as props or wardrobe in the national television advertisement called "Logos" featuring NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Ward Burton and many of the items have been personally autographed by Ward himself. In addition, the auction includes a large selection of hard to find, autographed Official NetZero HiSpeed Racing merchandise. The auction runs from April 23rd (5 P.M Pacific) through May 3rd (5 P.M Pacific), 2004 and is featured at www.ebay.com/wardburton. All items will come with letters of authenticity and are considered rare.

Since he began racing at NASCAR's highest level in 1994, Burton has scored 24 Top-5 and 80 Top-10 finishes. Not only has he finished as high as ninth in the championship point standings, but he has seven pole positions to his credit and has been to victory lane five times. Two of his trophies came in 2002, one in New Hampshire and his biggest win to date, the Daytona 500.
