HAMPSHIRE, U.K., April 30, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Superscape Group plc (LSE:SPS) and Vir2L Studios, a ZeniMax Media company, have announced an exclusive worldwide co-publishing deal to create and market a 3D bowling game for mobile phones based on the world-renowned AMF Bowling brand. The new wireless game, which will be available in June, will be designed to run on Superscape Swerve-enabled Java and BREW-based mobile phones and will be marketed to mobile phone manufacturers and network operators.
Kevin Roberts, CEO, Superscape Group plc said: "I am delighted that Superscape will be working with Vir2L Studios to develop a 3D version of AMF's Xtreme Bowling for mobile phones. Bringing together a well-known brand, challenging and addictive game play and the power of our Swerve technology is an extremely commanding combination and a great recipe for a successful mobile game."
"We chose Superscape and their Swerve technology as the means of bringing the first 3D version of AMF Xtreme Bowling to mobile phones for a number of reasons" said Douglas Frederick, president of Vir2L Studios. "Using Swerve ensures that the game will be available for and can be delivered over-the-air (OTA) for instant entertainment on the move to the largest possible worldwide audience."
"We think this game is a great way for AMF to extend the reach of our brand both inside and outside the bowling industry," said Ron Wood, General Manger of AMF Consumer Products. "It is especially exciting to work with leading technologies like those provided through our relationship with Vir2L Studios and their partnership with Superscape."
Based on this leading bowling brand, AMF Xtreme Bowling Wireless will allow players to compete in a variety of venues ranging from the classic wood lanes to the neon flashing Xtreme lanes that are available around the world at AMF bowling emporiums. Players will compete to get the highest score against friends or the AI (artificial intelligence) players. The game will appeal to a wide audience with the different skills levels.
