ASC Awarded SeaPort Enhanced Contract By U.S. Navy

CHANTILLY, Va., May 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- American Systems Corporation (ASC) today announced the award of an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract, known as SeaPort Enhanced, from the Naval Sea Systems Command to provide engineering, technical, and programmatic support services for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) and their divisions. ASC is qualified by this award to provide services in all seven geographical zones identified by the Navy in their Request for Proposal (i.e., Northwest, Mid-Atlantic, National Capital, Southeast, Gulf Coast, Midwest, Southwest, and Northwest).

ASC was awarded this contract as a result of their bid submitted in January 2004 in response to a full and open competition. By this award, ASC and its team of 21 subcontractors is qualified to respond to task or delivery order requests for proposals issued under this contract and to provide services that potentially span the entire spectrum of product areas supported by the activities and technical capabilities that comprise NSWC and NUWC. The contract was awarded for a base period of April 2004 through April 2009. The contract includes a performance-based incentive that permits ASC to earn up to two additional five-year award term periods with exceptional performance in response to Navy requests.

To meet Seapower 21 objectives and increase efficiency, NSWC and NUWC have aligned to provide seamless integrated support for 12 core Product Area Directorates. The day-to-day project management, planning, staffing, and project execution will be provided by the geographically diverse NSWC and NUWC Divisions.

Peter Smith, Vice President of ASC's Systems Division, said, "This is a tremendous win for ASC that will enable us to do business with the US Navy's warfare labs for the next 15 years. Without this win, we would have been limited in our ability to support these critical components of the nation's defense."

ASC's Systems Division is experienced in information technology applications associated with shipboard, shore-site and laboratory combat/command and control systems, C4ISR systems, and telecommunications systems, including performing information engineering, system engineering, and system integration functions.
