ATLANTA, July 8, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Moreland Photography of Atlanta, Georgia, today announced that photographer Mike Moreland has placed third in the International Wedding & Portrait Photography Competition held in Santa Monica, California in June, 2004. Moreland Photography specializes in unique photographs that combine photo-journalism with fine art, artistic photography, and creative photography.
More than 800 photos were entered in this prestigious competition by photographers from all over the world. Moreland received a third place award and an honorable mention in this year's contest.
"It's quite exciting," Moreland says. "Photographers worldwide entered this competition. To be recognized by having two of my photographs receive awards is a huge honor, especially because so many pictures were entered into the competition." Both pictures Moreland entered were taken at a wedding that took place at the Fernbank Museum in Atlanta, Georgia.
Moreland graduated from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California in December, 1982. He started Moreland Photography in 1985, specializing in commercial photography. Moreland quickly became known for his photos of Fortune 500 companies and has been published in several national magazines. In 1990, Moreland successfully added wedding photography services to his business, using his unique style to blend artistic expression with his commercial experience to create a "fresh new look."
"I enjoy photographing weddings immensely," Moreland says. "There is so much creative opportunity, and I like being a 'fly on the wall' to document the couple's special day. Afterwards, they will see their wedding through the eyes of their photographer."
