Northrop Grumman Showcases Wireless Geospatial Solutions at ESRI International User Conference

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 9, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will highlight its geospatial intelligence applications, architectures and enterprise-wide solutions this week at the 24th Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) International User Conference.

The exposition will be held Aug. 9-13 at the San Diego Convention Center. Northrop Grumman will be located at booth numbers 227 and D7.

For more than 40 years, Northrop Grumman has developed tools and technologies to help government, military, state and local organizations enhance their information technology (IT) infrastructures with geographic information. At the Northrop Grumman exhibit, conference attendees will learn how the company's commercial off-the-shelf software, collaboration tools, interoperable, standards-based geospatial information architectures, and customized geospatial solutions will advance their own geospatial capabilities.

Northrop Grumman's IT sector will display the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's Commercial Joint Mapping Toolkit (C/JMTK), a comprehensive toolkit of software components for the management, analysis and visualization of map and map-related information. The C/JMTK integrates government and industry capabilities into a common, long-term solution that advances mission application development into interoperable systems for the warfighter.

In conjunction with ESRI, Northrop Grumman IT developed Tracking Analyst and Tracking Server solutions. As developers of the Tracking Solutions suite, Northrop Grumman IT offers expertise in the customization and integration of these systems into customer-specific geospatial information-system applications.

Northrop Grumman IT will display advanced tactical systems for the U.S. Army's Combat Terrain Information Systems (CTIS) program. CTIS provides Army commanders with essential information through automated terrain analysis and graphics reproduction. The program also allows the warfighter to maintain terrain information superiority through terrain-based tactical decision aides, data dissemination, and data management capabilities in two-dimensional and three-dimensional working environments.

The exhibit will also include information about Northrop Grumman's contract award with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to engineer and deploy interoperable, secure wireless geospatial solutions. These applications enable geographic data about potential threats and vulnerabilities to be seamlessly shared between multiple government agencies and first responders.

Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector will demonstrate Touch Table, a projection display set on a seven-foot diagonal table. The projection tabletop display facilitates viewing and manipulation of complex data, such as geographic information, that cannot readily be represented on a standard computer display. Touch Table senses the location of points that are touched to manipulate information in real time.
