Semcon acquires ComTest and strengthens its testing and analysis capabilities

GOTEBORG, Sweden, Aug. 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Semcon has acquired ComTest and thereby strengthened its capabilities within testing and analysis, so-called Functional Performance. Through the acquisition Semcon has taken over responsibility for 20 or so employees in Helsingborg and Goteborg. ComTest has developed a flexible system of computerised measuring, testing and functionality testing of engines and other processes. The basic functions have been produced in association with the Swedish auto industry. Customers include Volvo Trucks, Scania, Saab, Volvo Aero, Volvo Cars, Volvo Penta, Oskarshamn, Forsmark, etc.

"More and more companies are choosing to outsource test operations because they are not part of their core business. Semcon is highly skilled in this area, and the ComTest acquisition means that we further strengthen our capabilities," said Reine Lindquist, Head of Vehicle Design & Development at Semcon.

"The link-up with Semcon will enable our skills to be utilised more
effectively," says Jan Ganulf, Head of ComTest's Helsingborg operations.
"We can now provide existing and new customers the wider range of
 services that the market requires."

ComTest was started up in 1982 and the company's systems have been
successfully used for a wide range of areas within the auto industry,
including testing of transmissions, engines, chassis dynamometers,
sound, climate, brakes and mobile systems. Over the years the company
has also built up an excellent skills bank and reference database of
every system supplied to the market.
