Maritime Telecommunications Network Chooses Nomadix to Provide Public-access Gateways for Satellite High-Speed Internet Access While at Sea

MTN Has Installed Nomadix HSGs on More Than Fifty Cruise Ships

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., and MIRAMAR, Fla., Aug. 30, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nomadix, Inc. (www.nomadix.com), a leading supplier of Public-access solutions, and Maritime Telecommunications Network (MTN), the leader in maritime communications, today announced that MTN has selected Nomadix as its preferred supplier of Public-access Gateways for MTN's Internet service to passengers and crew members on more than fifty cruise ships.

"Being at sea does not mean you have to be disconnected," said Steve Sellars, Director, Software Engineering of MTN, which began installing its 802.11x wireless Internet applications on cruise and offshore oil and gas vessels in 2002. MTN chose Nomadix because of the quality and flexibility of its products, which focus on the Public-access market. "Because of the increasing demand for Internet access, combining the Nomadix HotSpot Gateway (HSG) with MTN's existing wireless remote systems and capabilities on more than fifty ships has allowed MTN's cruise line customers to seamlessly provide secure wireless Internet access to passengers and crew, virtually anywhere on board." Most of the ships have wireless access located in public rooms such as lounges, libraries, pool areas, as well as Internet cafes, Sellars noted.

"We are excited to be integrating Nomadix into MTN's solution to provide cruise line guests and crew members with wireless Internet access," said Dave Kagan, President and CEO of MTN. "Passengers and crew members using this service will have the convenience of complete access to the online community while at sea. Cruise guests will now have the ability to use their own laptops to check work email, stay in touch with friends and family, or visit the Web to research exciting places to visit at the next port."

"Working with MTN is a great opportunity for Nomadix," said Kurt Bauer, President and CEO of Nomadix. "Nomadix solutions allow companies like MTN to seamlessly install our Gateways into existing infrastructure and quickly provision service. This project demonstrates Nomadix' robust feature set and flexibility in deployment."

The Nomadix HSG is a turnkey, cost-effective platform designed for small- to medium-sized Public-access Wi-Fi(tm) HotSpots. The gateway is transport agnostic and enables the deployment of wired, wireless, or hybrid networks supporting up to 150 simultaneous users.
