SCA: Jan Astrom Named Environmental Manager of the Year


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Nov. 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- SCA's President and CEO Jan Astrom has been selected as Environmental Manager of the Year 2004 (Okomanager des Jahres 2004) by the German WWF and the German business magazine Capital. The environmental award is highly regarded in Germany and since being initiated in 1990 has been awarded to several prominent business leaders.

Jan Astrom receives the award for his and SCA's environmental work and sustainable paper management. Among other factors, the motivation cites the Group's work with reducing air pollution, the extensive recycled paper operations, environmental certification of SCA's forests and production plants as well as the transformation of waste into energy, for example for district heating of homes and schools.

The award was presented in Berlin today.
