PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 16, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- December 31, 2004 will end in sparkling delight as Philadelphia's 14th annual free New Year's Eve fireworks show at Penn's Landing. The 2005 edition of the Delaware River Port Authority's New Year's celebration continues its tradition of ringing in the year with the largest New Year's Eve fireworks show in the county. The 11th annual New Year's Eve Party on Ice will take place from 11 p.m. until 1 a.m. at the Blue Cross RiverRink on Festival Pier at Penn's Landing, Columbus Boulevard and Spring Garden Street.
Seen easily on both sides of the Delaware River at midnight, this year's production uses the theme of "Dreams" as it weaves a tapestry of color choreographed to the music of R&B, Rock and friends past. The overall music track is scored to evoke a texture of hope, anticipation and above all fun. The fireworks will be synchronized to music heard on Sunny 104.5. The fireworks will also be broadcast live on NBC 10 for television viewers.
PPA Spectaculars will bring an arsenal of new effects to this, their 14th year of celebration with the Delaware River audience. Pyrotechnics from The United States, Spain, China, Japan, and Italy will perform with the time-honored backdrop of the Ben Franklin Bridge.
There are many outstanding locations for viewing the fireworks for FREE on both sides of the Delaware River highlighted by the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing (located at Columbus Boulevard and Chestnut Street) and Wiggins Park on the Camden Waterfront.
The New Year's Eve Party on Ice at the Blue Cross RiverRink is a grand night for families and adults alike. Added to regular skate sessions all day and night is a special skating session from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. This is the best non-alcoholic party in the city featuring food, great music, and a perfect spot to view the fireworks -- right on the ice! The price for the New Year's Eve Party on Ice at the Blue Cross RiverRink is $25 for skaters and $15 for spectators. Holiday skate sessions on December 31 are: 10:00 a.m. to Noon, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. There are also regular skate session hours on January 1 also.
