Biacore Appoints New Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations


UPPSALA, Sweden, Feb. 21, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Biacore International AB (SSE: BCOR) announces today that it has appointed Mr. Terry Pizzie as Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations. Mr. Pizzie has over 20 years' experience in the life science industry and he will take responsibility for all of Biacore's commercial activities globally including sales and product management as from March 1st 2005.

Mr. Pizzie has a broad range of commercial experience covering all aspects of the global life science industry. Prior to joining Biacore, Mr. Pizzie was most recently Vice President Europe of Applied Biosystems. In this position he was responsible for a business with revenues in excess of USD 500 million and which employed over 1,000 people across Europe. Prior to assuming control of all of Applied Biosystems European operations, Mr. Pizzie, was Director of Sales and Marketing Europe, responsible for all commercial aspects, including Strategy, Sales, Marketing and Support execution. During his more than fifteen year career with Applied Biosystems, Mr. Pizzie has played an increasingly important role in growing the sales of a company which has expanded from being an entrepreneurial business into one of the major global players in the life science analytical and research products market.
