Dr. Glenda Price, president, said, "Recognizing the many amazing contributions of women to our society is something that Marygrove College has traditionally done. The history of our own institution compels us to do so. Marygrove's predecessor college in Monroe was founded 100 years ago by a group of pioneering women, the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to educate young women in an era when higher education was not at all common."
