Little Flagger at the Races -- Talking Doll Explains Racing Rules to Children in New Book

CENTERVILLE, Ohio, March 8, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- The sport of auto racing has gained some ground in the last decade to become one of the most popular spectator events in the nation. However, sometimes rules are hard to explain to kids who have the need for speed. Marylin Millis helps out in that department with her new children's book, "Little Flagger at the Races" (now available through AuthorHouse).

Millis takes a fresh approach to teaching the sport of racing to children. Packed with full-color illustrations, the book follows Little Flagger, a talking doll who comes to life to wave the flags during an auto race similar to NASCAR. He takes readers through an entire race and explains the rules and events that apply.

Little Flagger takes his place on the stand above the track and waves his flags of many colors, from the green start to the yellow caution to the black-and-white-checkered finish. Little Flagger takes his cue from the race official who tells him what is happening and waves the appropriate flag when necessary. For instance, when a very bad wreck leaves debris on the track, a red flag comes out to let the drivers know the race is stopping for clean-up.

Fun for race fans of all ages, Little Flagger at the Races offers a unique perspective on one of America's most beloved sports.

Millis says she has always been a person who looks for ways to be creative. She has been a Sunday school teacher, youth leader and teen activity coordinator for more than 20 years. A wife, mother of three and grandmother of eight, she works out of her home in Centerville, Ohio, where she shares a passion for stock car racing with her husband and son. Little Flagger at the Races is her first book.
